Alan Gill’s background has involved significant policy, programming and financial management experience within both the public and private sectors in Canada and abroad. He has focused on areas where public/private partnerships have demonstrated their value in achieving meaningful public policy objectives. He has held senior positions in financial and human resource management in highly diverse environments. Substantively, he has initiated and managed pioneering work in the fields of export credits and capital market and private sector development. Previous positions have included:
- Representing Canada and other member countries on the Executive Boards of two International Financial Institutions (IFIs) - the Asian and Inter-American Development Banks;
- Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Private Sector Development at the Asian Development Bank; and
- Executive positions within the federal public service (Privy Council Office, Department of Finance and Export Development Canada).
Since leaving the Board of the Inter-American Development Bank in 2004, Mr. Gill has been engaged in private consulting, involving both domestic and international clients. In addition, he has served as a Board Member of the Ottawa Heart Institute, where he continues to serve as a Resource Person, and is currently a Board member of the Bhutan-Canada Foundation, where he chairs the Finance Committee.
