Dan is the Executive Director for The Perley and Rideau Veterans` Health Centre Foundation.
A seasoned, bilingual professional with more than thirty years experience in all aspects of fundraising, donor cultivation and volunteer management. A generalist, with a particular understanding and expertise in Planned Giving and Major Gifts. Dan began his career as a Volunteer School Teacher in Nigeria, CUSO 1978 – 1980, followed by several years working in the NGO sector for developing countries. This was followed by five years as Development Coordinator for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, seven years as Development Coordinator Individual and Planned Giving for the Foundation of the Ottawa General Hospital, and then by fourteen years as Director of Alumni and Development with Saint Paul University.
Dan holds a Baccalaureate, Concentration Social Communications, University of Ottawa; Certificate, Voluntary Sector and Arts Management, York University; Canadian Centre for Philanthropy, Certificate, National Certificate Programme in Voluntary and Non-Profit Sector ; National Society of Fund Raising Executives, Certificate Fund Raising Executive, CFRE designation; Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution, Certificate, Addressing Deep-Rooted Conflict; Association of Fundraising Professionals, Certificate, Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive, ACFRE designation. Honours and awards include, Class Valedictorian, York University; Certificate of Appreciation, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Ottawa Chapter; and awarded Association of Fundraising Professionals, Outstanding Fundraising Executive, AFP Ottawa Chapter, Knight of The Order of St. George and Prix d’excellence Finaliste Dirigeant de l’année RGA.
Dan is married to wife Réjeanne, and has two sons François and Olivier. His hobbies include distance running, fishing and reading.
